Jadzia Dax turns both main phases into a growing green-mana engine

The new two-mana legend adds counters and green mana at the start of each main phase. Its timing creates a same-turn postcombat return and a sharp interaction with counter multipliers.

Jadzia Dax, Living Legacy introduces a two-mana green engine whose important feature is its timing. At the beginning of each of your main phases, the 0/1 Trill Scientist gets a +1/+1 counter, then adds green mana equal to the number of counters on her. The trigger has no tap cost and is not restricted to the precombat main phase.

That gives a normal turn-two cast an immediate potential return. If you cast Jadzia during your precombat main phase, that phase's beginning has already passed. However, she can still trigger at the beginning of your postcombat main phase, gain her first counter and add one green. Summoning sickness does not prevent this triggered ability from working; haste is unnecessary for that line.

If she survives, the next turn's precombat trigger brings her to two counters and produces two green. Three ordinary land drops would then provide five available mana in that main phase. The postcombat trigger adds another counter and produces three more green later, but these are separate mana pools: unused mana does not automatically carry between phases.

Counter multipliers make the new construction more pronounced. With Hardened Scales already on the battlefield, Jadzia's first trigger places two counters and produces two green. Her next precombat trigger can bring her to four counters, producing four green alongside the turn's land mana. Proliferate and other counter support can likewise increase the amount future triggers generate. This is a specific reason to consider her in counter-focused Commander decks, rather than treating her as a conventional tap-for-mana creature.

There are meaningful limits. The mana is green, the first precombat trigger cannot be recovered after a main-phase cast, and the small creature must remain available to keep generating future value. Removal and the need to spend mana during the appropriate main phase matter. The preview establishes a new deckbuilding tool; it supplies no tournament adoption data or evidence that Jadzia already ranks among Commander's best mana creatures.
