Wizards of the Coast will retire Alchemy from MTG Arena with the next Standard rotation on February 2, 2027. Alchemy: Reality Fracture, scheduled for October 13, will be the final Alchemy release.
The February change will remove Alchemy Play, ranked Alchemy, Best-of-Three Alchemy, Alchemy Constructed Direct Challenge and related queues. Wizards says the format's original purpose has become less clear as Arena added more nonrotating formats, released more sets each year and saw Brawl grow.
Digital-only cards will remain legal in Historic, Timeless, Brawl and Competitive Brawl and may still receive future balance changes. The decision therefore ends Alchemy as a standalone format, not the digital-card pool itself.
