Magic: The Gathering Embarks on a Cinematic Universe Journey

In an exciting development for fantasy enthusiasts and gamers alike, Hasbro and Legendary Entertainment have announced a partnership to bring the iconic trading card game, *Magic: The Gathering* (MTG), to life through a live-action cinematic universe. This ambitious project aims to expand the rich lore of MTG across both film and television platforms.

The collaboration will commence with an untitled feature film, setting the stage for subsequent television series and additional content. While specific release dates have yet to be disclosed, the endeavor promises to delve deep into the expansive multiverse that MTG fans have cherished for over three decades.

Mary Parent, Legendary's head of worldwide production, expressed enthusiasm about the venture: "We pride ourselves on being thoughtful caretakers of singular, beloved IP, and no property better fits that description than *Magic: The Gathering*. Alongside the fantastic Hasbro team, we look forward to creating a multimedia universe that thrills longstanding fans and creates a broad wave of new ones."

Since its inception in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, *Magic: The Gathering* has amassed a global player base exceeding 50 million and, in 2022, became Hasbro's first brand to surpass $1 billion in annual revenue. The game's intricate world-building and diverse characters offer a fertile ground for storytelling, making it a prime candidate for cinematic adaptation.

This initiative is part of Hasbro's broader strategy to leverage its intellectual properties in the entertainment sector. Previous successful adaptations include brands like *Transformers* and *My Little Pony*. With Legendary's proven track record in producing blockbuster films such as *Dune* and the *Godzilla* series, the partnership is poised to deliver compelling content that resonates with both existing fans and newcomers.

In addition to the live-action projects, an animated *Magic: The Gathering* series is currently in development for Netflix, further expanding the franchise's reach across different media platforms.

As the project progresses, fans can anticipate immersive storytelling that captures the essence of *Magic: The Gathering*, bringing its planeswalkers, spells, and mythical realms from the tabletop to screens worldwide.
