Glava turns cheap X permanents into repeatable five-value plays

The new mono-green commander fixes one X at five each turn, rewarding Ravenous creatures, scalable artifacts and flash enablers that reuse the ability on opponents’ turns.

Glava, Five-Advents Mage creates an unusual mono-green X-spell engine: once each turn, when you cast a permanent spell with X in its mana cost or activate an ability with X in its cost, Glava can make that X equal five without increasing what you paid.

That turns low-investment Ravenous creatures into five-counter threats that also draw a card, and it upgrades cards such as Walking Ballista, Astral Cornucopia, Sporocyst and Magus of the Candelabra. The ability does not affect additional costs or triggered abilities, so the shell needs genuine X symbols in permanent spells or activated costs.

Because the limit resets each turn, Radagast of Rhosgobel, Yeva, Nature’s Herald and other flash enablers can multiply Glava’s output across a Commander rotation. EDHREC’s first complete build pairs that interaction with heavy ramp and 39 lands, producing a current blueprint for the newly revealed Mystery Booster Commander legend rather than a generic X-spell list.
