Hexhaven’s Standard loop needs a four-loyalty Jace to keep resetting

A newly documented Avatar–Warlord line turns Forest tutoring into repeated damage, with exact setup requirements and finite land fuel.

Hexhaven Invigorator’s latest combo uses Standard-legal Reality Fracture cards rather than the already covered Mine Collapse and Valakut engine. September 30 reporting credits Simon Nielsen with demonstrating a line built around Avatar of Burgeoning Echoes and Way of the Warlord. The interesting development is the loyalty reset that lets a new Jace token repeat an ability in the same turn.

The required board is substantial: Invigorator, Avatar, Way of the Warlord, at least three Forests, and a Jace token on exactly four loyalty. Roiling Canopy and more Forest lands must still be available in the library. Activate Warlord’s minus-four ability to deal two damage to both Invigorator and the opponent. The token reaches zero loyalty and dies. Invigorator’s damage trigger finds Roiling Canopy and a Forest.

Those two land entries trigger Avatar twice, producing four loyalty through empower Jace. Because the old token died, the resulting token is a new permanent and can activate the minus-four ability again. The next two Forests provide another pair of Avatar triggers; Canopy’s pumps now keep Invigorator alive as the sequence continues. Each successful iteration damages the opponent while replacing the token that used the loyalty ability.

Starting on five loyalty is not equivalent. The first activation would leave the same token alive, and adding loyalty does not reset its once-per-turn loyalty activation restriction. Warlord itself supplies five loyalty, so the reported setup uses a surveil activation before attempting the line on a later turn. Extra landfall can help rebuild a token, but the final loyalty state still needs care.

Although described as an infinite combo, the practical damage is bounded by the number of suitable lands remaining in the library. The deck needs enough fuel to finish the opponent, not merely the three headline cards. It also needs its creatures and enchantment to survive through the relevant triggers.

The demonstration can occur as early as turn four, but no competitive tournament result accompanies it. Creature removal, disrupted land tutoring or damage to the Jace token can stop the plan. This makes it useful new deckbuilding technology to test, with a much higher setup burden than the older-format Invigorator lines.
