Legacy’s 307-entry week puts Dimir ahead while Tron struggles

Six October 6–11 MTGO events give a new weekly picture: Dimir Tempo reaches 54.2% non-mirror wins, while Tron falls to 38.1%. The sample does not settle either deck’s long-term strength.

A fresh October 14 Legacy report adds a six-event weekly sample ahead of Eternal Weekend, separating the format’s most-played decks from its strongest performers. MTGGoldfish’s recap covers 307 deck entries across Magic Online Challenges played October 6–11, providing new evidence beyond the previous week’s post-ban overview.

Dimir Tempo leads the sample with 33 entries, roughly eleven percent of the field, and a 54.2% non-mirror win rate. That is a positive week after the previous report placed it below fifty percent. Boros Energy follows with 24 entries and 49.6%, while Izzet Tempo’s 21 entries post 51.9%. Popularity therefore does not translate into the same performance advantage for every leading archetype.

The sharpest contrast is Tron: seventeen entries produce a 38.1% non-mirror win rate. Eldrazi and Sneak and Show each appear sixteen times, at 47.8% and 49.4% respectively. These figures support a cautious weekly conclusion—Tron underperformed this sample—not the stronger assertion that the archetype is solved, unplayable or permanently displaced.

Results also show room for multiple approaches. Death and Taxes won the 64-player October 10 Challenge, while two Izzet Tempo lists reached the final of the 73-player October 11 Challenge. The report notes continued experimentation within tempo shells, including Dark Matter Manipulator in Dimir and different configurations of Cori-Steel Cutter, Boomerang Basics and Stormchaser’s Talent in Izzet.

For Eternal Weekend preparation, the practical message is to test against a varied field rather than build around a single feared opponent. Dimir has both presence and positive performance here, but the week also contains successful nonblue, creature-combat and combo strategies. Wizards left Legacy’s banned list unchanged on October 12; that policy decision is context, not a new ban or an additional publication-worthy event by itself.

The limits matter. Entries are not necessarily unique players, archetype samples are modest, and a weekly non-mirror rate does not control for pilot skill, pairings or list differences. Six events give a broader signal than one isolated finish, but another week or a large paper event could change the picture substantially.
