A new Legacy league list puts Reality Fracture’s Pia, Aether Ascetic between two established combo engines. Tsubaki556 recorded a 5–0 in the October 14 Magic Online Legacy League with four Food Chains, one Aluren and two Pias. MTG Rocks explains the construction, while the linked MTGGoldfish deck record confirms the date, result and full 75-card list.
Pia’s contribution is consistency rather than a new infinite loop by itself. When it enters, you may discard a card to search your library for an enchantment, reveal it and put it into your hand. That lets a creature-focused tutor package reach either Food Chain or the single Aluren. Four Green Sun’s Zeniths and four Formidable Speakers support that plan, while Malevolent Rumble and Once Upon a Time help find creatures or resources.
The Food Chain route uses Squee, the Immortal, which can be cast from exile. Exiling Squee to Food Chain produces one more mana than its casting cost, so repeating the process generates arbitrarily large amounts of creature-spell mana. This is exile, not sacrifice, and the mana cannot pay for the enchantments themselves or for arbitrary activated abilities.
Acererak the Archlich supplies the finish. Repeatedly casting it and choosing a dungeon route that does not complete Tomb of Annihilation allows its return-to-hand ability to keep functioning. Lost Mine of Phandelver’s Dark Pool eventually drains the opponent. Aluren offers another way to cast the same three-mana creature repeatedly without paying its mana cost, connecting the two engines through a shared payoff.
The supporting list includes three Allosaurus Shepherds, three Delighted Halflings and three Ancient Tombs. It also carries Punishing Fire with Grove of the Burnwillows, giving it a way to contest small creatures rather than relying entirely on racing. After sideboarding, Pia can access specialized enchantments such as Choke or Carpet of Flowers.
The trade-off is speed and vulnerability. Pia only puts the enchantment into hand, the engines still need to resolve, and faster combo decks can exploit the limited spell-based interaction. Aluren also grants its permission to both players. One undefeated five-match league establishes a current, tournament-backed strategy to examine; it does not establish a sustained Legacy trend or a reliable matchup advantage.
