Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny will release on April 9, 2027. Revealed at New York Comic Con, the set brings Doctor Strange, Thor, Hela and other supernatural Marvel characters into a new Universes Beyond release built around an original story created with Marvel.
The collaboration also extends beyond the cards. Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly are writing a companion Marvel comic introducing this version of the story. Wizards says a digital edition is coming in February 2027, followed by a physical release in April. The announcement establishes a new product and storytelling partnership; it does not yet establish the major plot outcomes of that story.
The official WPN calendar puts prerelease events on April 2–8, one week ahead of the worldwide launch. Stores can begin scheduling events on January 11, with distributor selection due January 22. Marketing kits are expected between March 25 and April 1.
The confirmed product range includes regular and Collector Boosters, four Commander decks and four Collector’s Edition Commander decks, two Scene Boxes, a standard Bundle, an Arcanum Bundle, Draft Night and Prerelease Packs. That gives players several entry points, but complete decklists and all card contents have not yet been disclosed.
For players, the immediate value is a reliable release calendar and a clearer picture of the Marvel crossover’s scope. Early card previews are a separate gameplay development; they do not by themselves demonstrate future tournament performance or justify speculative claims about the set’s power.
