Pia turns Food Chain into a mono-green turn-three engine

New commander Pia, Aether Ascetic can tutor Food Chain from the command zone, assemble Eternal Scourge and convert enchantment creatures into a complete mono-green combo line.

Pia, Aether Ascetic gives mono-green Commander something it has not previously had in the command zone: a repeatable tutor for enchantments. An October 2 build shows why Food Chain is the most consequential target, while also identifying the discard cost that keeps the commander from being a trivial one-card win.

The opening sequence is direct. Cast Pia and discard a card to find Food Chain. After Food Chain resolves, sacrificing and recasting Pia can find Survival of the Fittest; that card turns another creature in hand into Eternal Scourge. Exiling and recasting Scourge establishes the familiar creature-mana loop. Pia is both an outlet for that mana and the tutor that assembles the enchantment side of the engine.

The constraint is cards in hand. Every Pia trigger requires a discard, so infinite creature mana alone cannot search the whole deck. Eidolon of Blossoms addresses that bottleneck by replacing enchantment-creature casts with cards. Enduring Vitality plus Concordant Crossroads lets the repeatedly cast Eternal Scourge tap for green mana before being exiled again, creating unrestricted mana alongside the Food Chain loop. Shigeki, Jukai Visionary can then keep triggering Eidolon and help draw through the library. Earthcraft and Squirrel Nest offer a redundant token finish, with an untap effect or token doubler needed if the tokens enter tapped.

The article's sample list is described as a consistent turn-three turbo deck, but not as a proven tournament cEDH choice. Interaction aimed at Food Chain or the commander can break the chain, graveyard placement can strand Eternal Scourge, and the engine spends cards aggressively. The author expects it to win games in high-power pods while doubting it would win a serious tournament.

That caveat is important: the development is a newly enabled strategy, not a claim of competitive adoption. Pia compresses tutor, outlet and recursion access into one commander, creating a complete mono-green Food Chain construction with clear resource requirements and equally clear points of failure.
