Aminatou logs 87 sales as Jace demand tightens supply

MTG Rocks reports 87 Commander 2018 foil sales after the precon reveal, alongside thinning stock across several printings. The $22.19 figure is a listing floor, not a verified transaction price.

Source transparency: This Digest item is based primarily on reporting from MTG Rocks. TMF summarizes and interprets the news; original reporting remains credited and linked.
Aminatou, the Fateshifter is showing a measurable demand change around Reality Fracture's Jace, Multiverse Architect. October 3 reporting from MTG Rocks records 87 near-mint Commander 2018 foil copies sold after the September 16 Multiverse Reforged decklist reveal, compared with 12 during the preceding month. The unequal reporting periods are worth keeping in mind, but the sales count provides more substance than a percentage spike alone.

The connection is specific. Aminatou's +1 can put a creature or planeswalker from hand on top of the library, setting up Jace's -3. Her -1 can instead blink Jace, returning him as a new object with fresh loyalty and allowing another activation. These are different loyalty abilities: a normal turn does not let Aminatou both arrange the top card and blink Jace herself. The combination nevertheless offers useful sequencing in a deck already built around turning library cards into major permanents.

MTG Rocks reports more than 6,000 decks for Jace and notes that Aminatou was absent from his precon. That gives the demand wave a credible deckbuilding catalyst. It is not, however, a direct count of 6,000 Aminatou purchases or proof that every Jace build needs the card.

Supply and price evidence must be separated. The article quotes a September 10 starting price of $3.08 for Commander 2018 and an October 3 near-mint listing floor of $22.19 including shipping, with four listings left. Its advertised 620% increase describes that comparison, not proof that the 87 buyers paid the new floor. No completed-sale price distribution is supplied, so this Digest does not present $22.19 as a demonstrated clearing price.

Other printings show related pressure, but also sizeable differences. The source reports nonfoil Double Masters and Secret Lair copies starting at $18 with five listings for each, while Double Masters foil and etched versions start at $11.42 and $13.40. The List is lower still at $8.99. Those are source-time US listings, not guaranteed current offers or interchangeable prices for every finish.

The practical conclusion is demand-backed tightening with substantial variant risk. Thin remaining inventories can exaggerate asking prices, new sellers may restock, and precon enthusiasm can reverse when attention shifts to later releases. A reprint would change the supply picture again. Aminatou has a credible current role and reported transactions behind the move; neither that synergy nor the sales count makes the highest asking price a reliable investment target.
