Why Naiva matters

Naiva is Yasova's granddaughter and a skilled hunter raised under Atarka's rule. She values what a spear, knife and trained eye can accomplish because those tools make survival tangible. Baishya's visions occupy a different world of knowledge, one Naiva cannot enter alone. Having to protect her twin can feel both like an expression of love and a role chosen for her.

The journey toward Ugin places those feelings under pressure. Naiva guards Baishya through dangerous terrain, helps Tae Jin survive an attacking dragon and encounters memories that contradict the apparent permanence of dragonlord rule. Her grandmother's older history begins to look less like discarded language and more like evidence that the world has other possible shapes.

Bolas targets the gap between her courage and her insecurity. He amplifies the fear that Baishya is preferred and turns protection into a grievance. His coercion brings Naiva close to killing her sister before Ugin's influence breaks the connection and Yasova stops the act. The account requires both facts: the resentment was hers, and the dragon invaded her ability to choose what to do with it.

Afterward, Naiva accepts a plan that puts Baishya in the visible position while she remains hidden. Sharing clothing and trusting her twin's magic becomes an act of care that the dragon cannot easily interpret. The sisters survive together. Naiva's growth is not the acquisition of a gift that would make her identical to Baishya, but a recognition that her own skill has value without ranking the person she loves beneath her.

Naiva will hunt and protect Baishya at the refuge. Tae Jin returns to his own master; their affection does not erase either young person's responsibilities.
