Sidar Kondo
The chieftain whose family became a fracture in the Weatherlight's past
Kondo sheltered Gerrard when a foretold destiny made the child unsafe. Raising him alongside Vuel made protection a family commitment before that family was broken from within.
Profile
Why Sidar Kondo matters
Gerrard's parents needed their son hidden from the danger surrounding his expected part in the struggle against Phyrexia. Kondo accepted him and raised the refugee with Vuel, his biological son. Chieftainship did not prevent him from making room for a child whose future others already wanted to control.
The brothers' relationship deteriorated. Vuel killed Kondo and fled; he would later become Volrath. The tragedy belongs to the Weatherlight story's foundations, not to a later voyage on which Kondo survived beside Gerrard. His care and his death are separate parts of the inheritance the younger man carried.
