Far Corner hired Chishiro against the Reckoners while continuing to revere a shrine he mistrusted. Its kami was Kaima, once his partner. The gang conflict and Tatsunari's cruelty reopened a bond whose pain both mortal and spirit had answered with more violence.
Kaima's roots turned against the people who loved him as well as those who threatened them. Recognising despair in Tatsunari helped Chishiro see a limit to simply killing another supposedly worthless enemy. Ayari and Jenzo helped lead residents toward Towashi.
Chishiro confronted the way his own bitterness had shaped the kami. Neither could return unchanged to the beings they had been before. Kaima asked for a renewed bond in which each might remake the other. The fractured blade revealed a new light: a chance to change, not a claim that the neighbourhood's damage had vanished.
