MORE THAN THE NAME A WORLD GIVES YOU

Perisophia teaches identity without a final label

The Returned and eidolons complicate a lesson that leads toward awareness rather than a formula for self-knowledge.

Perisophia asked students whether identity came from the body, the mind or the community shaping a life. Their eagerness to settle the answer became part of the lesson: naming a thing could prevent them from examining it.

The Returned and their separated eidolons made the question harder. A familiar body or a cluster of memories did not necessarily retain the capacity for self-awareness. Perisophia offered careful distinctions rather than claiming she could repair that loss.

Later, Ephara warned her of coming war. Perisophia committed herself to sustaining human minds and lives, not merely winning a debate. Her method remained a practice of attention, and the coming threat was a warning rather than a battle already resolved.
