Dack Fayden

Profile

Why Dack Fayden matters

Dack grew up in Drakeston on Fiora. He and his friend Marsh were gifted but reckless mages. A fight they provoked killed Marsh and ignited Dack's spark. Departure could not undo that loss.

He became an artifact thief whose unusual understanding of magical objects opened opportunities across planes. After defeating Sifa Grent, he stole a powerful gauntlet from Ravnica's Boros. Its missing piece drew him to Theros: possession of one treasure had become an invitation to the next danger.

Completing the gauntlet did not secure his prize. Ashiok was manipulating a Theros polis through its dreams, interrupting Dack's investigation. Looking for help rather than another possession, he entered a portal to the Underworld. That journey belongs to his living adventures, not an explanation for his later death.

During the War of the Spark, an Eternal seized Dack on Ravnica. He tried to planeswalk away, but the reactivated Immortal Sun prevented it. The creature harvested his spark, killing him. The Multiverse's celebrated thief died because someone else's machinery could take the one freedom he relied on.

Reality Fracture's philanthropic Dack works with Sifa Grent in the Echoverse. This counterpart does not undo the original's death. Their lives must not be merged.
