Dack Fayden: Stolen Freedom
A reckless loss opens the Multiverse to Dack; a stolen gauntlet carries him into another danger. His final escape fails on Ravnica, and a counterpart's later appearance does not reverse that ending.
Why this story matters
The route in brief
Dack has talent before he has a reputation. This route follows what power lets him reach and what it cannot repair.
Artifacts make the road visible. A gauntlet passes from a Boros theft into a search on Theros, where understanding an object is no guarantee of controlling the conflict around it. Possession offers opportunities without making its owner the author of every consequence.
Ravnica gives that pattern a final reversal. The thief who can cross worlds finds his escape constrained by a machine and his spark treated as somebody else's prize. Read the later Echoverse Dack separately: resemblance is not continuity of the life that ended here.

A spark does not restore the friend left behind
Marsh's death ignites Dack's spark without undoing their reckless decision.
Dack and Marsh were talented young mages in Drakeston on Fiora. They had more confidence than judgement. A fight they provoked ended with Marsh dead and Dack's planeswalker spark ignited. The new power did not rescue his friend.
The beginning of that freedom is therefore also an ending. Dack could leave a world, but not change what had already happened there. The ability to cross a boundary is not the ability to reverse a consequence.
That distinction frames the thief's later adventures. Another prize can open another road without making departure a guarantee of safety.

The treasure points beyond its owner
Sifa Grent's defeat leads to a Boros theft, Theros and a search interrupted by Ashiok's influence.
After defeating Sifa Grent, Dack acquired another problem by stealing a gauntlet from the Boros on Ravnica. The artifact was incomplete. Its missing part carried his search to Theros, making the latest prize a reason to cross another boundary rather than a secure conclusion.
He eventually assembled the gauntlet after reaching a mysterious Theros island. Ashiok's manipulation of a polis through dreams then interrupted his investigation. Being able to understand a magical object did not place Dack outside the reach of magic aimed at the people around it.
Dack entered the Underworld seeking help. He was still alive: this journey does not establish a later resurrection or make the gauntlet an escape from death.

The Immortal Sun closes the last exit
Dack's spark is harvested during Ravnica's battle; a benevolent Echoverse double does not revive him.
During the War of the Spark, Dack fought the Dreadhorde with magic that magnetised its lazotep armour. Then an Eternal caught him from behind. He damaged it and tried to planeswalk, but the reactivated Immortal Sun held him on Ravnica.
The creature harvested his spark. Dack died as that stolen power went to Bolas, while the fighting continued around him. His death is an actual loss in the war, not something that can be inferred merely from a missing card or a planeswalker leaving a battlefield.
The Echoverse offers a philanthropic Dack partnered with Sifa Grent. He belongs to another reality, not an escape from the original's fatal harvesting.
