Davriel Cane
A reluctant hero who would prefer a well-written contract
Davriel values comfort and carefully bound demons more than public heroics. Keeping out of other people's causes proves difficult when a quiet life is no longer a convincing disguise.
Profile
Why Davriel Cane matters
Davriel wants wealth, fine tea and the freedom to enjoy both. He binds demons to his service and would rather arrange his comfort than become somebody's champion. His residence in Kessig places that preference within Innistrad, where a peaceful retreat is rarely beyond the reach of trouble.
The events of Children of the Nameless exposed him to people recruiting planeswalkers for larger causes. He eventually went to Ravnica intending to appear useless enough that nobody would recruit him again. Bolas's invasion spoiled the experiment. Reluctance is real, but it does not make him absent from the danger.
