Every sanctuary casts a longer shadow

Innistrad

Human communities hold together through faith, silver and stubborn courage in a gothic world where every kind of nightmare has a history.

Plane profile

A world worth knowing

On Innistrad, horror is an ecosystem rather than an interruption. Vampire houses negotiate status and hunger, werewolf packs answer the moon, geists remain tied to unfinished lives, and necromancers manufacture new terrors from the dead. Humans survive because towns, rituals and shared defences make isolation more dangerous than distrust.

Sorin Markov created Avacyn to keep predators from consuming their prey entirely, and the Church built its protection around her. Her imprisonment weakened that balance; her return briefly restored it; her later madness forced Sorin to destroy his own creation. Innistrad endured cosmic corruption and invasion after that loss, but no permanent dawn arrived. Survival here is the work of every night.
