Jadzi

Oracle who turns a future foreseen as captivity into one final act of choice

Jadzi sees futures as a storm of possibilities rather than a script. Captured for the secret of Arcavios's creation, she chooses the death that reveals it—and makes that knowledge part of Jace's defeat.

Profile

Why Jadzi matters

Jadzi is an oracle of Arcavios, able to perceive branching futures with a reach few minds can survive. Her sight does not make existence simple. Possibility arrives as a storm containing danger, absurdity and routes whose meaning depends on the people walking them. The gift therefore produces irreverence rather than solemn distance. Certainty is suspicious to someone who can see how many different endings stand behind a single confident decision.

The Theorist needs more than prediction. Under Sissoko's Law, an Arcavian oracle returns at death to the moment the plane was created. Jace believes a telepathic link can follow Jadzi backward and reveal how two older planes collided into Arcavios. Tam abducts her from Strixhaven and carries her into Hexhaven, where the prisoner answers cosmic coercion with insults, jokes and a refusal to grant her captor moral grandeur.

Jadzi's futures show the Theorist that her death is required, but the part of Jace capable of killing has already been removed. She recognises the hesitation and seizes the knife herself. The act should not be mistaken for agreement with his plan. By choosing the timing, she drags him through creation on a route whose ending he has not fully understood. He gains the method of convergence and starts the overlay, exactly where the resistance needs his attention extended beyond his body.

Her death remains a cost, not a clever mechanism that cancels itself. Tam accepts responsibility for bringing her into the trap, and the survivors escape with knowledge purchased by a life they cannot restore. Jadzi's final contribution captures the danger and value of prophecy: seeing an outcome does not absolve anyone who helps create it, but a person inside that future can still decide how to meet it.
