Why Lord Windgrace matters

Windgrace was a panther warrior planeswalker whose loyalty centred on Urborg and the living systems of Dominaria. Artifice represented more than an aesthetic dislike to him. He had seen ambitious makers treat landscapes as raw material, and he judged machines by the relationships they displaced as much as the purpose their builders announced.

That suspicion made alliance with Urza difficult, yet the Phyrexian threat left no clean coalition. Windgrace became one of the Nine Titans sent into Phyrexia, carrying enormous power into a plan designed by someone he did not trust. Cooperation was a choice to defend Dominaria, not an endorsement of Urza’s methods.

After the invasion, damage to the plane continued through the temporal rifts. Urborg’s wound threatened a home already transformed by war and overlay. Windgrace could have treated the crisis as another problem for younger lives, but guardianship meant accepting that the old planeswalkers’ era had helped create the instability.

He spent his spark and life closing Urborg’s rift, but first placed part of himself into the land. That presence remained as protection and memory after the Mending. Windgrace did not preserve Urborg by freezing it in the form he knew. He gave the plane room to continue changing without the rupture that would have ended every possible future.
