Ten realms circle a World Tree where every crossing can become a saga.

Kaldheim

Kaldheim is a family of ten realms joined by the World Tree, the perilous Cosmos and unstable Omenpaths that can bring travellers, gods and entire worlds into collision.

Plane profile

A world worth knowing

Kaldheim is not one continuous landscape but ten distinct realms carried by the World Tree. Bretagard's human clans, Skemfar's elves, Axgard's dwarves and the peoples of seven other realms each inherit their own terrain, conflicts and forms of magic. Above them hangs the Light of Starnheim; between them stretches the Cosmos, beautiful at a distance and lethal to the unprepared.

The realms never stand still. Omenpaths open temporary routes through the Cosmos, while a Doomskar forces two realms into violent overlap. Rune-marked ships, divine weapons and rare spells make deliberate travel possible, but the oldest Cosmos monsters move with freedoms mortals can only envy. Every journey therefore carries the chance of discovery, invasion or a disaster large enough to become legend.

Kaldheim's gods are powerful, quarrelsome and deeply entangled with mortal affairs. The Skoti maintain their strength through the Cosmos Elixir after displacing the older Einir, leaving divine history as another unfinished feud. Phyrexia later exploited the World Tree's nature for Realmbreaker, turning Kaldheim's local cosmology into a hinge for a Multiverse-wide war.
