Nashi freed Tamiyo’s echo from the device holding it, allowing the spirit to dissolve rather than remain another possession contested by survivors and demon. The choice hurt because it was not recovery. It was a refusal to let love become permanent captivity.
Kaito struck Valgavoth with a blade carrying light the House could not fully absorb. The wound interrupted the demon’s control long enough for the group to force an exit. Injury was possible; victory was not. Valgavoth remained bound to a domain built from his appetite and from countless lives already consumed.
The survivors returned with Nashi but without closing Duskmourn. Winter received the kind of freedom only Valgavoth would define, and doors could still appear on other planes. The rescue therefore became a warning: Omenpath travel had opened the Multiverse to ordinary travellers, and some worlds had learned to travel back by hunting through the threshold.
