A monster hunt across the World Tree exposes Tibalt's manufactured apocalypse and the first move in a Phyrexian invasion

The Bloodcrag Choice

Kaya and Tyvar reach Tibalt above Immersturm, where his assault on Kaya's doubts fails against a prince almost comically certain of himself.

Immersturm turns pursuit into attrition. Demons attack from a fire-driven ship while Tyvar shapes basalt into a road across molten ground and reforges crude iron into weapons Kaya can use. Their partnership changes in the process: he learns that heroism includes enabling another fighter, and she begins to see that his confidence can shelter more than his ego.

At the Bloodcrag they find Tibalt above an army preparing to cross the opening skies. He floods Kaya's mind with thoughts that resemble her own worst judgment: leave, survive and refuse another world's burden. The spell nearly makes her planeswalk away because it does not invent fear; it gives familiar fear a voice and weight.

Tyvar breaks the attack precisely because doubt has so little purchase on him. He disarms Tibalt and frees Kaya, but their enemy planeswalks away before he can answer for the rifts. The stolen sword remains behind while the Doomskar is already unfolding. Winning the duel leaves them with the far harder task of repairing a collision between worlds.
