Ancient tablets and a metal door pointed toward Matzalantli, a destination described through memory, key and map. Huatli and Quintorius approached the inscriptions as records that could revise history. Others saw a path to power before they had met anyone who might call the destination home.
Once the route opened, separation proved impossible. The caverns forced competing parties through the same hazards, sometimes as enemies and sometimes as unwilling allies. Kellan’s search for Oko placed him among the travellers, but surviving the descent required attention to lives beyond his private mission.
The deeper world overturned the assumption that Ixalan’s important civilisations all faced the outer sun. Cities, roads and peoples had flourished around a light hidden inside the plane. Discovery expanded the map while making every surface claim less certain.
