A monster hunt across the World Tree exposes Tibalt's manufactured apocalypse and the first move in a Phyrexian invasion

The Trickster's Trail

Tibalt wakes ancient trolls and abandons Kaya among them, but Tyvar Kell turns the ambush into the beginning of an unlikely partnership.

Cosima's ship chooses Kaya's next shore for her. There she finds Tibalt posing as Kaldheim's missing god of lies and stirring sleeping Torga trolls into violence. The sword in his hand carries the light of the World Tree and cuts deliberate passages between realms. He opens a way to fire-scarred Immersturm, leaving Kaya to be crushed by the creatures he woke.

Tyvar Kell enters the fight with the certainty of someone already narrating his own saga. His magic borrows the nature of nearby stone and turns it into strength, allowing him to meet the trolls on their terms. Kaya mistrusts the swagger, but their different talents give both a way out of Tibalt's trap.

A Zendikari stone among Tyvar's keepsakes tells Kaya what he does not yet understand: the journeys he treats as distant Kaldheim realms include another plane entirely. Tyvar is a Planeswalker. News that his brother's army is moving and Alrund's Doomskar is approaching gives him a reason to follow Kaya through an Omenpath to Immersturm.
