A REQUEST IS NOT A COMMAND
Ravnica and Regatha: Competing Obligations
A goblin's profitable theft precedes three planeswalkers' competing promises. Jace answers Zendikar, Liliana pursues freedom and Chandra chooses the community that first sheltered her.
Why this story matters
The route in brief
Ravnica's public institutions do not contain every private bargain made within their walls. A thief can profit from a guild's crisis, and a planeswalker can carry obligations that no local office can resolve. These accounts make competing loyalties visible before another world demands an answer.
Krenko's earlier heist is a separate prologue, not a covert part of Gideon's later recruitment. The route then moves to Jace and Liliana on Ravnica and to Chandra at Keral Keep on Regatha, as the fall of Sea Gate forces old relationships into new choices.
No refusal here is a permanent summary of a character's future. This is the moment before those later decisions: incomplete trust, genuine need and people who cannot yet agree about which promise should come first.

Krenko turns a guild crisis into a private payment
Mr. Taz pays for a feather from the imprisoned Feather; his identity and wider objective remain undisclosed.
Mr. Taz offered Krenko a job inside Sunhome and an enchanted knife to help complete it. The goblin found the Boros divided over Aurelia and Feather, whose authority and liberty were already under challenge. Disorder offered better cover than brute strength.
Krenko spread disruption through the guildhall, broke Feather's detention sphere and plucked feathers from her wings. He then cried out as though she had attacked him, leaving guards to recapture the angel while he escaped.
Delivering one feather earned payment and a key to her Orzhov savings. Another task immediately followed. The patron's strange appearance and useful connections did not disclose his identity; this successful theft is not proof that Krenko understood the plan benefiting from it.

A reunion meets a request from a ruined city
Gideon's warning about Sea Gate redirects Jace, while Liliana refuses to make Zendikar's danger her next obligation.
Liliana returned to Jace seeking a fresh beginning and help with the Chain Veil. His work as Living Guildpact had left him tired of other people's demands, but dinner briefly offered space for a more honest conversation between them.
Gideon interrupted with news that Sea Gate had fallen. Research into hedrons and leylines might still offer a way to fight the Eldrazi. Jace recognised both the puzzle and his own part in releasing the danger.
Liliana rejected his invitation to join them and left angry. Jace chose to help Gideon, insisting first on rest, medical care and preparations. He had not solved the Veil's hold or repaired their relationship; an urgent request had overtaken an unfinished personal one.

Liliana's ravens cannot tear up a contract
A confrontation with the Raven Man displays the Veil's growing price without freeing Liliana from her surviving creditors.
Alone after the failed reunion, Liliana met the Raven Man and his insistence that she remained trapped by her bargains. She treated the intrusion as another attempt to direct her life, answering with threats rather than accepting the offered interpretation of her fate.
Necromantic ravens and the Chain Veil drove the confrontation into a display of power. The victory she wanted was larger than forcing an unwelcome figure away: she wanted freedom from the contracts still marking her body.
The marks did not become harmless because she could attack their skin. Power left her hurt and still bound. The Raven Man's withdrawal neither confirmed his destruction nor settled his identity, and Liliana's departure did not yet make her a member of the Gatewatch.

Chandra's promise stays on Regatha
After Serenok dies, Chandra turns away Gideon and Jace and returns toward the offered mantle at Keral Keep.
Chandra helped Keral Keep repel a hellion, but a battle she could influence was followed by a loss she could not: Serenok died in his sleep. His absence changed the monastery from a familiar refuge into a community asking her to lead.
The monks offered her his mantle. She resisted becoming their replacement for Jaya, then began to consider what staying might mean. Gideon and Jace arrived before that decision could comfortably settle, asking her to fight the Eldrazi on Zendikar.
Chandra refused them and returned toward Mother Luti and the waiting robe. This ending chooses the promise at Keral Keep, not immediate recruitment. Her attachment to its people mattered even though a different obligation would draw her outward later.
