A city in the clouds, fuelled by angelic Halo and divided among five families.
New Capenna
New Capenna is a towering refuge above a ruined world, where five demonic crime families control everyday life and the miraculous substance Halo keeps both magic and old secrets flowing.
Plane profile
A world worth knowing
For most citizens, New Capenna is the plane: a vertical metropolis rising above the wastes of Old Capenna. The industrial Caldaia supports the crowded Mezzio, while Park Heights crowns the city with gardens, theatres and impossible wealth. Elevators connect those layers, but power travels through favours, protection and carefully negotiated territory.
Five families divide the city's business. The Brokers weaponise contracts, the Obscura trade in information and prophecy, the Maestros hide assassination behind high culture, the Riveteers control labour and construction, and the Cabaretti turn celebration into influence. Their truce resembles government only from a distance; each family preserves peace because open war would threaten everyone's profits.
New Capenna was raised as a fortress during an ancient Phyrexian attack. Its archdemons betrayed the angels who helped save it, converting their essence into Halo and burying the truth beneath generations of glamour. The later invasion exposed both Halo's value against Phyrexia and the cost of depending on it. With angels returning and old certainties broken, the city must decide whether survival can mean more than another family arrangement.
