THREE INDEPENDENT HISTORIES

Answers That Change a World

Follow three different answers to a world's needs: Breya's experiment, Thrasios's loyalty and Avacyn's return. Success, belief and lasting safety are not interchangeable.

Why this story matters

The route in brief

Some lives enter the archive through an experiment; others through a debt or a return. Their significance is not measured by how many worlds their subjects visit. A decision can matter deeply to a community without becoming another chapter of a planeswalker's campaign.

These are three independent histories, not companions travelling together. Read each stop within its own setting and period. The links lead back to individual profiles, where a brief account can be placed beside earlier loyalties and later consequences.

Keep the endings distinct as well. A successful test need not produce a harmless invention. A traveller's conviction does not make every claim certain. An earlier deliverance does not promise that a guardian will return from every later catastrophe.

Story Chapters

  1. Breya tests what Esper could not make

Carmot makes new etherium possible, but Armix reveals its dangerous character.

Breya's expedition brought carmot from Jund to Esper. She used it to construct Armix from newly made etherium.

Armix remained obedient, but it grew violent and unpredictable, carrying out instructions with brutal and reckless force. Its behaviour exposed the unrefined wild power of etherium made with Jund's magic. Breya nevertheless judged the experiment successful.

She then replaced most of her organic body with her own etherium, gaining abilities from Jund's magic.

  2. Thrasios carries a debt beyond Meletis

A family's rescue becomes loyalty; a later pilgrimage produces a disputed claim.

Meletians rescued Thrasios's family from minotaurs. He became a champion fighting for their city's honour. Meletian accounts described his ability to avoid blows as extraordinary, without independently proving a miracle.

Thrasios credited Thassa with favouring him, and his reputation benefited from that conviction. Yet the accounts record no divine command or witnessed blessing that appointed him to a mission.

He later explored the ocean's edge and reported reaching Olantin's ruins. Few believed him.

  3. Avacyn's earlier return restores the wards

The Helvault's destruction releases a guardian; it does not undo her later death.

Griselbrand's battle with Avacyn ended with her trapped inside the Helvault. Without her, angelic strength and protective wards faltered. Gisela witnessed the struggle, and in Avacyn's absence even the sacred Lofts above Thraben Cathedral fell into disrepair.

The shattered prison released Avacyn at full power. Her return renewed the wards and restored the angelic flights. The restored angelic flights could support a counteroffensive rather than only defending shrinking human settlements.

Angels and humans could now drive monsters away from their settlements. This recovery belongs before the later corruption and unmaking, not after them.
