The assault is deliberately untidy. Cathars fight beside geists, Chandra burns paths through vampire guards, Kaya frees spirits trapped in Olivia's finery and Teferi turns seconds into openings. Sorin confronts Edgar and has the chance to kill him, but refuses to let inherited cruelty dictate one more choice. He sends his grandfather away, then accepts Teferi's recognition of what the choice cost him. Sorin remains to help the injured and offers Markov Manor for continuing care.
Arlinn pursues Olivia through a manor designed to glorify its owner. Wounded and briefly overwhelmed, she is found by Tovolar and the wolves who abandoned her. Their help does not erase the Harvesttide massacre, but it prevents Olivia from making the division permanent. Cornered by the pack, Olivia drops the key and escapes with Edgar rather than risk destruction.
Katilda's spirit travels with the recovered key to Kessig and returns to her body. At the Celestus, root and soul meet blood and fang; silver enters the Sungold Lock and the ancient mechanism moves again. Dawn returns as a shared achievement rather than a gift from one guardian. Teferi borrows the key to investigate another danger, warning Arlinn that signs of Phyrexia may soon reach even Innistrad.
