Following Tamiyo's observations, Jace reaches the Drownyard Temple. Cryptoliths channel the plane's magical energy toward a coastal nexus. Undead workers move through the water, and angels gather above the formation. The pattern is deliberate, but proximity is not proof of responsibility: Jace's deteriorating judgment makes him suspect Liliana.
His unstable duplicates argue and take on familiar appearances. They are not independent witnesses, and the image of Tamiyo is not a meeting with the scholar herself. The investigation has begun to consume the investigator. He has reached a physical structure while losing the mental boundaries needed to interpret it.
Elsewhere, Gisa's letters to Geralf supply a different view. Geralf's skaabs freed her from a prison transport; her new acquaintance Nahiri has asked for an undead workforce to build a monument at sea. Gisa celebrates the partnership without understanding its wider purpose. A petty sibling quarrel therefore exposes a major piece of the machinery. The temple is not simply a mysterious landmark: someone has organised labour to reshape Innistrad's defences.
