Nahiri
Lithomancer, ancient guardian and the danger of making home an absolute
Nahiri can shape stone, metal and entire landscapes, yet her hardest material has always been memory. Millennia spent guarding Zendikar made devotion inseparable from anger when allies failed to answer its need.
Profile
Why Nahiri matters
Nahiri was a kor lithomancer whose spark opened a Multiverse beyond Zendikar’s shifting landscape. With Sorin and Ugin she confronted the Eldrazi and accepted the most personal share of their solution: her hedron network would imprison the titans on her home plane, and she would remain to watch them while the others departed.
When the prison weakened, neither ally answered her call. Nahiri repaired it alone, then went to Innistrad demanding that Sorin honour their promise. Their conflict ended with her sealed inside the Helvault for a thousand years. Emerging into a Multiverse where Zendikar had been ravaged transformed justified hurt into a plan for retribution.
Nahiri drew Emrakul to Innistrad, making Sorin’s world experience the devastation she believed he had abandoned hers to face. The act punished an entire plane for one relationship and revealed how completely protection of home had become permission to harm any other home. Later confrontations on Zendikar showed that the pattern survived even when the immediate revenge was over.
The Lithoform Core exposes the same failure closer to home. Its destructive use kills Zareth; when Akiri resists, Nahiri paralyses her, takes the artifact and pushes her from the Skyclave. Restoring Zendikar has become a reason to discard the people living on it.
Phyrexian compleation again turned Nahiri’s bond with Zendikar into coercion. She used hedrons and skyclaves to invite Realmbreaker deeper into the plane, convinced enforced transformation was healing. After the invasion, survival without her spark left her facing a painful distinction: loving a world does not grant ownership over the people who must live in it.
Afterward she removes Phyrexian metal from herself and the Skyclave. Her separated spark survives inside stone until a collapse during her confrontation with Ajani shatters it. She refuses his offer of mutual repair and vows to bar planeswalkers from Zendikar. Survival has not resolved the conviction that protection requires exclusion.
