Causality settles on a version in which Sami, Tannuk and Haliya live. The Free Company does not reward that mercy. Its ship burns Taro-duend with weapons and drive exhaust, killing civilians who protected the fugitives. Haliya watches the organisation she served convert innocent Kav into a necessary cost and can no longer pretend distance from the order preserves her honour.
Sami claims both Haliya and Alpharael as guests. Mallowmass is more than a word for aid: it makes shelter a public obligation. On a ship with almost no margin, the promise is deliberately inconvenient. Haliya does not have to adopt Sami's ethics before receiving protection, and Alpharael does not have to prove his memories untouched before he is allowed to live.
The Seriema escapes by using Kavaron's planetary launch systems and its own improvised sail. Four people from opposing sides now share a destination dictated by the Endstone. What holds them together is neither faith nor trust in the artifact. It is the smaller, testable confidence that the person beside them will not choose their convenient death.
