Ten teams chase one manufactured spark across three worlds, until stopping for other people becomes the only victory that matters.

Love is not a repair

Chandra enters for Nissa and learns that a generous motive can still ignore the person it intends to help.

Chandra joined Cloudspire with a purpose more intimate than the crowds understood. Nissa had lost her spark after the invasion and could no longer travel as she once had. Winning the Aetherspark seemed to Chandra like a way to return a stolen future. She trained, accepted Kolodin's discipline and treated every risk as worthwhile because the prize was meant for someone she loved.

Nissa complicated the gift by refusing to become a problem Chandra could solve. She wanted the possibility of returning to Zendikar, but she also wanted a life in which she and Chandra remained two people rather than one heroic project. Her hesitation did not reject their relationship. It asked Chandra to separate partnership from rescue and to understand that restoring an ability was not the same as restoring the person who had lost it.

That conversation followed Chandra onto the track. A pin from Nissa became a reminder to slow her first instinct long enough to ask what a victory would cost. The lesson did not make Chandra cautious, but it changed what she considered worth protecting. Whenever the race demanded that she choose between placement and a vulnerable stranger, the gift she wanted for Nissa was measured against Nissa's actual values.
