Ten teams chase one manufactured spark across three worlds, until stopping for other people becomes the only victory that matters.

The little-guy shortcut

Chandra gives up the front of the race to rescue Loot, and a living map reveals another way forward.

Winter's Speed Demons kept Loot in a cage and used his instinctive awareness of planar routes to appear wherever the track offered an advantage. To most spectators he was another strange piece of racing equipment. Chandra heard fear instead. She attacked Winter, then recoiled when her own fire endangered the child she meant to defend. Being opposed to cruelty did not automatically make every response kind.

On Muraganda, a frightened dinosaur became the next obstacle everyone else was prepared to convert into wreckage. Chandra left Cloudspire's winning line, trusted Kolodin to continue and mounted the creature rather than destroy it. The detour brought her to Loot, Pia and Daretti inside a raider camp. Rescue left them stranded with damaged machinery and very little time, so the group rebuilt from scrap, palm wood and expertise gathered across several lives.

Loot supplied the route nobody else could see. His directions sent their improvised vehicle through an Omenpath that ignored the published course, first dropping them painfully into Amonkhet and then carrying them back toward Avishkar. The shortcut saved time without restoring Chandra's position. More importantly, it changed Loot from cargo into a participant whose knowledge mattered because the others listened rather than extracted it.
