Liliana is held inside Hexhaven beside Professor Opal, the serene double made from a life in which Liliana never chose the Chain Veil. The copy has her face and talent but none of the injuries that gave either moral weight. Their resemblance makes the Echoverse's promise visible: suffering is absent because experience has been thinned.
Tam briefly frees the original Liliana and hears the consequence the Theorist omitted. Echoverse inhabitants possess incomplete souls. Overlaying them on the original would not add two populations together; the copied lives would occupy the same spiritual space until the originals were smothered. Perfection would arrive as universal replacement.
The warning makes obedience impossible to confuse with innocence. The Theorist urges Tam to remove doubt as he removed his own inconvenient selves, then sends her to measure Innistrad for the convergence. Alone with Jadzi, he studies futures in which killing the oracle completes his proof and learns that certainty has not given him the courage to perform its price.
